JOIN THE BAND

Are you a musician looking for a great band to join? Hooray - we'd love to welcome you! 

We are currently seeking new musicians!

What level do you need to be?
We ask that you are about grade five standard or above - but there's no need for you to have taken any exams. This means that you'll be able to read the pieces easily and play some of the more tricky pieces without too much of a problem (we all have to take the music home to practice from time to time!).

Are there any auditions?
You'll be pleased to hear that we don't do auditions, but we have a 3 week trial period which works like this - We have a chat after the 3rd rehearsal. If you like what you see and we're happy that you're up to our standard then that's it - you're in!​

When and where do rehearsals take place?
We rehearsal every Thursday evening between 7:30 and 9:30pm (with a short break) in St. Barthomomew's Church Hall, in Penn, Wolverhampton (WV4 5JB).
Please note: The hall is on the opposite side of the road to the church.

ELIZABETH - "I started to learn to play the piano aged 11, decided I wasn’t destined to be a flautist aged 14, but instead, along with studying piano, classical guitar helped get me through my music degree. (A better option than the Chinese zither I rejected after 2 lessons). I then became a music teacher in primary schools for many years, until a career change happened recently. This gave me more time to concentrate on music for me, so I bought an alto saxophone and taught myself to play it. A couple of friends were members of West Midlands Concert Band, and they suggested I give it a go. Having never played in a band before, I was terrified when I turned up for my first rehearsal, but soon realised that everyone was friendly and supportive. Now Thursday rehearsals are the highlight of my week!"

Are there any fees? Members pay a small subscription to contribute towards the running of the band (the rehearsal hall, conductor's fees, uniform and music). It's £5 a month by standing order. You'll be provided with a uniform consisting of a band Polo Shirt and Jacket, for which we ask a one off contribution of £15.
